I create handbuilt and handpainted ceramics using a variety of clays. My work is generally fired to cone 6 but I do occassionally experiment with cone 10 reductions firings. All pieces are created using pinch, coiling, and slab techniques. I paint my pieces at the greenware stage using a variety of underglazes, mason stains, and slips. I then fire the piece and clear glaze my pieces in ways that leave parts of the raw clay exposed because I like the contrast between the surfaces. Inside vessels I will use a variety of colored glazes, often combined in ways to create surprising result. I then fire to cone 6. Most of my work has 22k gold luster details which are applied after glaze firing and then the work is fired a third and final time.
